A catalogue of London-made knives within the Company’s collection, together with the marks of London cutlers, has been published in paperback following extensive research by the co-authors Liveryman Keith Hinde and Past Master Emeritus John Herbert. This is the first of a series of catalogues which are to be published by the Collections Committee.

The catalogue describes and illustrates the London-made knives within the collection, and includes a comprehensive table of marks, which has been compiled following research into the Company archives and the Freedom and Apprenticeship rolls of the City of London. Two introductory essays explain the origins and organization of the Gilds and the conditions under which the Company granted marks to working cutlers.
