Among the Company’s collections can be found examples of the whole gamut of the cutlers’ craft including swords, cutlery, scissors, and surgical instruments. The collection of cutlery ranges from Stone Age tools to the cutlery of today, from the cheapest of mass produced knives to exquisite items of gold and ivory encrusted with jewels. It is particularly rich in fine continental cutlery of the 17th and 18th centuries. Examples of the craftsmanship of former members of the Company, including Ephraim How (Master 1706), Peter Spitzer (Master 1725), William Pepys (Master (1822 & 1828), and John Greer (Master 1812) are contained within the collection of London-made cutlery.
